pe·lo·rus (n): a sighting device on a ship for taking the relative bearings of a distant object.
Pelorus is a simple navigation app that lets you enter a destination and see the bearing (direction) and distance from your current location. It also features a "camera" view that uses the phones camera to give you a better sense of the direction (this can also be described as augmented reality).
Common use cases:
* Enter subway with destination selected. Come out of subway in strange part of town and quickly orient yourself.
* Keep track of how far you are from a destination. Homesick? See how far it really is, though this may be depressing. Driving? See how close you are, this may not be depressing.
